About our foodbank

Atherton & Leigh foodbank is a local independent charity, as part of the Trussell network of food banks, that has been operating since 2013 and continues to grow year after year, providing well over half a million meals to local people since we started.
We have always tried to be more than just food, by signposting people to agencies that can help them move past the cause of their hardship, and we now provide a Citizen’s Advice Wigan Borough case worker in each of our sessions, so we can help provide practical support with the food.

foodbank is a project founded by local churches and community groups, working together towards stopping hunger in our local area.
