Our financial inclusion project continues, thanks to National Lottery players

Financial Inclusion continues

Over the past few years we have been running a Financial Inclusion Hub months, in partnership with Citizens Advice Wigan Borough.
For a while this was funded by Trussell, who oversee a large number of independent food banks, of which we are one.

We weren’t sure how we would or could keep this going but we applied to The National Lottery Community Fund, who very kindly awarded us enough funding to make sure this essential service was maintained, for people who are facing financial hardships.

This is made possible by the many people that play National Lottery games, so thank you to each and every one of you.

A Citizens Advice Wigan Borough case worker is in attendance at every food bank session and ready to advise on a wide range of issues that could be causing local people to struggle putting food on the table.

This could include:

  • Work/wage issues including sick pay
  • Debt, and how to manage it
  • Bills and budgeting advice
  • problems with utilities, like gas/electric, water etc.
  • Benefit problems

If you are referred to the food bank and are having any financial problems,  meaning feeding yourself or your family is a choice, rather than the norm, please do ask to speak to Citizens’s Advice when you collect your food.
We are here to help and you don’t have to do it alone.
