We are blessed to operate in areas that seem to have a zero tolerance for hunger in their community, and that is borne out by the sheer amount of donations we get every year. We are lucky that the donations of food cover all we need and the money we get allows us to cover our operating costs, buy fresh bread & veg etc. for our customers and also provide a financial inclusion hub in partnership with Citizens Advice Wigan Borough, so we can hopefully help people back on to their feet with more of a financial stability.
In truth, without your generosity we simply would not exist.
People that buy from 1 item to a trolley full at supermarket collections, those that do collections amongst friends and neighbours through the year, the ones that drop a tin or two in our supermarket baskets, groups and organisations lole scouts, weight watchers(plus many more) and businesses that do work collections. Every item you donate is used to benefit people in the areas we cover. (Sometimes we do send items we have a surplus of to other local food banks, but often get swaps and stuff back in return)
You’re all simply amazing
Thank-you
Our Amazing Volunteers
Wow, where do we start?
When it comes to hard work and dedication our volunteers are where it’s at. We have so many that turn up week in and week out, day in and day out in some cases, and have done for many years, in our distribution centres, doing admin and online stuff, and we simply would not be operate without you by our side. You’re the best we could wish for and you need to know just how much we appreciate you.
And it’s not just our main pool that are there for us, we also have so many that give up their weekends to help us at our supermarket collections and we appreciate them just as much as any other volunteers we have because, again. We’d be lost with them.
In the last year or so we’ve also had a few businesses that have started to ‘loan’ us staff, to help us sort our warehouse out after big collections, and they’ve been absolutely invaluable, working hard and doing a fantastic job we would otherwise struggle with.
Last but not least are our brilliant volunteer trustees, many of whom have joined us this year and are vital to the work we do and the way we operate.
However much you volunteer, you’re making a difference and we could not do it without each and every one of you.
Thank-you
We are truly thankful to everyone that’s played a part in 2024 and hope we can rely on you again in 2025, you are us and together we can end hunger in our community.
