Solo cyclist Colin Harvey raises much needed funds

29th October 2021

We were blown away this week, when we learned of the exploits of Colin Harvey, of Fresh Start Waste Services Ltd

Colin, who is commercial director at the Astley based company, completed a gruelling 156.4-mile coast to coast solo bike ride to raise a much needed £2188 for Trussell Trust foodbanks, of which we received a very welcome and much needed £550, to help local people in food poverty.

Colin said “After 16 strenuous hours, 156 miles and a climb of 12,375 ft (equivalent to 11.5 times up the Eiffel Tower) I can honestly say I’m delighted to have completed the coast-to-coast bike ride. I got to see some beautiful areas of the country – rivers, babbling brooks, scenery – which I would never have seen in the car.”

“I’m over the moon with the amount raised, as in these poverty-stricken times, I feel my efforts will make a genuine difference to families not going hungry. I’d like to thank all those who sponsored me.

A massive well done to you Colin! We can absolutely assure you your efforts will make a massive difference to people in food crisis and make a huge difference to families, especially on the run up to Christmas.
Cash donations are absolutely vital to the work of a foodbank as it allows us to run our vans, warehouse and centres, as well as buy fresh food, that does not get donated by the public. £550 is a huge amount and we really can not thank you enough.

You can read all about Colin’s bike ride and his reason for doing it on the FS waste website – ‘Here’

Thankyou Colin, good luck in your future charity bike rides.
