New Platt Bridge distribution centre

19th September 2016

We are excited to announce that we will be joining forces with the team at Olympic House in Platt Bridge to open our 4th Atherton & Leigh foodbank distribution centre.

Truth be known we were only ever meant to be a short term ‘stop gap’ project with a  plan to help people  get through tough times but given the way things are and how busy we still are we know it is not going to be any time soon our services will be able to stop. Opening new distribution centre`s is one way we can react to the need as and when it occurs so when we were approached by Olympic House to see if we could help them set up a distribution centre for people in crisis in Platt Bridge we jumped at the chance to get involved. Since then lots of behind the scenes stuff including foodbank training for lots of lovely volunteers to run it we can now officially announce that the new Platt bridge distribution centre will open at Olympic House, Platt Street, Platt Bridge, Wigan. WN2 5DA on Tuesday 27th September 2016 at 1:00pm – 3:00pm and then every Tuesday from then on.

Once the centre opens we will provide a list but its great that we already have a number of agencies signed up in the area and are working on adding as many more  as we can. If you live in the Platt Bridge area and are struggling to buy food due to a financial crisis  please do not hesitate to ask your local voucher provider for a voucher and come and see us and we will be more than happy to help, it is all very informal and easy going, a bit like being sat in your local cafe, you will even get a drink and a biscuit.

If you would like to volunteer at the distribution centre or would like to donate food or fund please get in touch via the Contact page HERE

If you are a care giving agency that deals with people who may suffer financial crisis and would be able to benefit clients by issuing them an emergency food voucher please get in touch with Warren, the foodbank project manager, by clicking HERE
